The Grenadines

Nine miles to the south of St. Vincent is Bequia. A place that time has seemed to forget. Life here is completely oriented by the sea. Once a strictly whaling community, the islanders are the world's last

hand-harpooners. They also still practice their age-old traditions of boat building and fishing.

Visitors to the island can watch the islanders building their boats by hand, visit the whaling museum, or stroll along the waterfront of Port Elizabeth and visit the bars, restaurants and craft shops. Bequia is also an excellent place to go sailing, scuba diving and snorkeling.
